Jesse

Jesse is one of the most loving dogs on the planet. Maybe he knows he was given a second chance at life. You see, he was born with Megaesophagus. When he first came to the Funny Farm Rescue, his previous owners loved him but didn’t know how to take care of him. His special needs seemed overwhelming, and they asked Laurie for help. He was a little bag of bones and was literally starving to death. When she first met him, it was love at first sight.

Laurie, and Jesse’s new brother Tucker who has the same condition, showed Jesse how to eat. The love and appreciation he showed and continues to show each day is astounding. He is 1 year old now and as you can see…tall, handsome, and healthy!

Canyon

Canyon is our one-eyed horse. Sadly, he lost an eye due to a run-in with a barb-wire fence at a previous farm. He was also born with a sway back, which makes his spine curved downward. Having one eye has never slowed him down.  Canyon is smitten with Anna, a 6-year-old racehorse that recently arrived at the farm. Anna and Canyon are one of the most admired love stories of the farm.  Canyon shows people that you do not have to be perfect in order to have an amazing life full of love and adventure. Many people are inspired by his positive attitude.  It is evident that he loves living at the Funny Farm Sanctuary.

Joey

Baby Joey is the newest member on the farm! He arrived in August of this year. He came from a dairy farm and was unable to walk for three days so they were going to euthanize him. Thankfully the workers there fell in love with him and decided to try and save him. They made a promise to him they would find him a home. Through their search they found Laurie and the Funny Farm. Of course, Laurie could not say no to that cute baby face, so Joey came to live with Grandpop T-Bone and Uncle Yogi!

Miss Kitty

Miss Kitty the pig came to live on the farm in 2022. Kitty was raised in a condominium and quickly outgrew her living quarters. Her owners called Laurie and explained they loved her very much but realized a condo was no place for a pig. Laurie agreed to take her and now Miss Kitty loves free roaming the farm and playing with her friends. You will often see her sniffing out bird food, napping in the sun or playing with her favorite ball.

Debbie De Goose

Debbie De Goose became an international star when she wrote her own stories of hopeless love. Based on her real behavior, her stories became so popular that news stations came to film her. She was found as a young 2-day-old gosling all alone. An elderly woman fed her and raised her for 3 months on her lap. Sadly, the woman passed away and her family brought her to the Funny Farm knowing she would never survive on her own.

Debbie fell in love with the UPS man she dubbed, “Dreamy Stevie” because he had a smile bright enough to light up an entire chicken coop! She would never let him leave and would tell him story after story until he would pick her up and hold her in his arms.

Debbie De Goose would wait for hours and hours until Dreamy Stevie would come. The story went viral and was seen on news stations all around the country. Soon, UPS would frown on Debbie being picked up as they have a no holding animals’ policy. A few years later, she would meet a wild goose named Henry and they fell in love. Neither of them like other geese. Henry was good at listening and laughed at her stories no matter how many times he’s heard them! It is rare to see Debbie without Henry.

Manny, Sid, Diego

Our Alpacas Manny, Sid and Diego are playfully named after the movie Ice Age. Manny is the father and Sid and Diego are his sons. They were originally owned by a woman and her boyfriend from Cape May County, NJ. When the woman and her boyfriend separated, she was not able to care for them and just left them out in a field with not much food to eat. Good Samaritans put the woman in contact with Laurie and Laurie agreed to rescue them and bring them to the Funny Farm.
